Find out what's in the book!

Waking up the body

In this chapter you will find physical warm-ups to     loosen and energise the body.

There are 20 exercises. Some are inspired by Qi Gong, there are brain gym challenges, clapping games and warm-up action songs.

Each will help to rid the body of tension, engage the mind and put a smile on your singers' faces.

Activating the breath

In the second chapter there are 15 exercises for diaphragmatic breathing and another 15 excercises to strengthen the diaphragm itself.

These exercises come from various sources such as Pranayama breathing techniques, Bella Canto and even football chants!

Accentuating the Articulation

The last chapter contains a wealth of exercises to improve your singers' diction and articulation.

There are themed tongue twisters, tongue twister poems and tongue twister quodlibrets as well as limerics.

You learn how to create fun tongue twisters using your singers' names and a number of variations on the 'Robin Hood' tongue twister, culminating in a true overture!

Two Taster Sessions

All exercises in the book can be used in a mix and match format, taking one from each section.

Below are two taster sessions, demonstrating how the exercises can be combined to start a choir rehearsal in an upbeat, engaging way.

More videos of exercises in the book can be found on our Facebook page 'Warm-Ups for Choirs.'
